11:30am- Just one trip today. We had to punch through some fog to begin with, but it opened up to clear skies just a few miles beyond the harbor. Sightings were reported to be bleak by the other whale watching boats. The Ocean Explorer had run 5 trips in a row without seeing a single whale or dolphin! Capt. Ryan decided to zig when they zagged, and we were rewarded with a humpback whale. And not just any humpback. An ultra-curious whale that wanted to do some people watching! This animal made repeated passes as our boat drifted for almost a mile, swimming under and along our boat for nearly an hour. One of the most super trips we have ever had. A very special whale!
