Another gloomy morning but that’s just fine; the sea was very calm! We had to work for the whales today, but had some beautiful sights along the way. Capt. Ryan took the boat the entire length of Laguna Beach searching for Gray Whales. At the very furthest point we could go (9 miles), we finally found a cow/calf pair! It was worth going the distance, as they played in the surf, rolling, showing tails, and spy hopping! Our 11:30am trip was able to catch up to these same whales off north Laguna Beach. We also saw a huge pod of common dolphin feeding 2 miles off- there were as many as 1,000!
